Joe served in the Air force before joining Rockwell International as an engineer. In 1973, Joe moved his growing family from the Orange California to Topsham. Joe encouraged his children to push themselves in sports. His interest in sports led to many hours flooding his background for an ice rink, founding the initial Topsham Youth Soccer league with his wife and five other parents, and countless treks across Maine and New England to watch his children and grandchildren in the sports of their choosing. Joe retired from Rockwell as an Engineering Manager at the former Maine Electronics Plant in Lisbon Falls. Joe didn’t stay retired long the first time as he continued to provide contract support to Rockwell and later drove the buses for Brunswick Housing, helping those unable to drive themselves to maintain some of their independence by taking them to their appointments and to gather their groceries. Joe retired from Brunswick Housing and continued his transportation role by carting his grandchildren from place to place.
Joe was an avid vegetable gardener a skill he learned while growing up in Claremont, NH. He dabbled in wood-making, candle making, and numerous home improvement activities throughout his retirement.
