Obituary:
Anna Hale Bowditch, born 1912, passed away on June 9 in Brunswick ME. Beloved wife of the late E. Francis Bowditch, headmaster of Lake Forest Academy 1940-51, Dean of Students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1951-57. She is survived by her four children, E. Francis Bowditch, Jr. of Oriental NC, Nathaniel H. Bowditch of Westport Island ME, Susan B. Badger of La Conner WA, and Elizabeth S. Watt of Tamworth NH; and by eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A proud graduate of Wellesley College, she was a professionally recognized educational leader and counselor, serving as Director of Development at the Walnut Hill School in Natick MA, Headmistress of the Day Prospect Hill School in New Haven CT, and co-founder and Assistant Head of the Hammonasset School in Madison CT. She was also a regional chair and trustee of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors. A tireless community volunteer, benefactor and fundraiser, she was active throughout her life in a wide range of educational, civic, environmental, theatrical, and horticultural activities. Her affiliations and interests in the Brunswick area were Habitat for Humanity, Garden Club of America and the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

Memorials:
Her family requests that any donations in her memory be made to the Hopkins School, New Haven CT, to be directed to the Anna Bowditch Scholarship Fund.
