Obituary:
Brunswick—William L. Kramer, 79, passed away peacefully, May 6, 2010, at his home, following a brief illness. He was born, September 26, 1930 in Chicago, IL the son of Hendrick and Agnes Kramer. The youngest of four children, Bill was a gifted artist, having his work displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago. He attended the Chicago Vocational High School, and upon graduation enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard in 1948. He was stationed in Portland, ME, aboard the USCG cutter Yankton. After leaving the service in 1951, he worked at Bath Iron Works and H.P. Hood, before joining the metal trade’s branch of B.N.A.S., Public Works Dept in 1973, until his retirement as an Outside Machinist in 1995. During these years he was recognized for his ability and expertise in troubleshooting and repairing all mechanical systems and equipment on the station, as well as, his ability to teach and help co-workers with more difficult tasks. He was very proud of his contributions to maintaining the readiness of the station. Bill was a long-time member and past grand master of the United Lodge of Masons. He helped build the existing lodge and served on various committees and projects throughout the years. He believed deeply in service to others and never hesitated to volunteer his time and skills whenever needed. He was an avid antique car buff, participating in countless car meets and winning numerous awards for his restorations. He won 1st place three consecutive years at the Vermont Antique Classic Car meet in Stowe, as well as, a third place. He was especially fond of his 1955 Ford and 1930 Model A. He was also a member of the Brunswick Casco Bay Square Dancing Club. Bill was predeceased by his father, mother, a brother, Gerry and a sister, Jeanne. He is survived by his loving partner, Doris Carberry of Lisbon Falls, Maine; daughter, Kathryn Azura of Topsham; son, William L. Kramer, Jr. of Easley, SC,; brother, Henry Kramer and his wife, June of Auburn, WA; grandson, Kevin Kramer of Brunswick; niece, Gayle Osterloh, her husband, Terry and their children Jimmy and Amiee of Cummings, GA; nephew Tom Kramer and his wife, Millie and their children Scott, Mark, and Carlos of Morris, IL; nephew, Scott Kramer and his wife, Judi and their children, Ryan and Erin of Naperville, IL and niece, Beverly Peters and her husband, Dan of Lisle, IL
