Arlene was born in Brunswick on June 12, 1911, the daughter of Frank E. and Stella M. Estes Douglas. She graduated from Brunswick High School in the Class of 1929, and later graduated from the Maine General School of Nursing in 1932. She worked as a private duty nurse and after raising her family, she was a nurse at Parkview Memorial Hospital and later for the Job Corps at Poland Spring. Arlene married Robert O. Dale in Brunswick on November 23, 1932. She was a member of the Brunswick Golf Club for 20 years and also enjoyed painting. She is predeceased by her husband; two sons, Lincoln G. Dale in 1978, and Robert D. Dale in 1996; and her daughter, Beverly J. Johnson in 1994. Surviving are her brother, David W. Douglas of Pocasset, MA; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
