Name: Elizabeth Cheney Buckley Date: January 15th, 1915 - October 6th, 2009 Obituary: Topsham—Elizabeth Cheney Buckley, formerly of the Highlands, age 94, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Hill House, Bath. She was born in Hartford, CT on January 15, 1915, a daughter of Austin and Ruth Sears Bacon Cheney. She was raised in Manchester, CT, and graduated from Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, MA. Mrs. Buckley moved to Geneseo, NY, in 1946. She spent 57 years of her life there. She moved to Topsham in 2002. She was active in many civic organizations and in the Episcopal Church. She was secretary to Bishop George Barrett of the Diocese of Rochester, NY, and served in many volunteer positions at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Geneseo, NY. Mrs. Buckley was predeceased by her husband, Col. Thomas C.T. Buckley; and by two daughters, Elizabeth B. Frederic and Louise B. Mayer. She is survived by a son, Thomas Buckley, and his wife, Jorunn, of West Bath, ME; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services to be announced.
