Topsham— Deborah Ellen Cobb Lundblad, died Wednesday August 19, 2009 at her residence at the Highlands.
She was born February 6, 1926 in Newbury, VT the daughter of Richard B. and Lisle Cobb. She was the 7th generation to be born in the family’s homestead.
She graduated as valedictorian from Newbury High School in 1944. In 1948, she earned a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Vermont, Burlington, and she received her M.A. in Guidance in 1976 from Framingham State Teachers College, MA. She was employed as a guidance counselor at the Lincoln-Sudbury High School from 1971-1976.
Before her marriage to Frank Lundblad in Newbury, VT in June of 1950, she was the vocal music teacher in Greenville Regional School, NY from 1948-1950. The couple moved to Cambridge, MA, where she became the organist and choir director for the Lutheran Church, Central Square, from 1953-1956. When the couple moved to Greenville, SC became the music teacher for the Lutheran Churches in both Greenville and Taylors; as well, she sang with the Furman University Community Chorus.
Additionally, her involvement with chorus and choir groups included Handel & Haydn Society (Boston, MA), the Accapella Singers (Framingham, MA) the Lexington Choral Society (Lexington, MA), Furman University Community Chorus (Greenville, SC), the Brussels Community Chorus (Belgium), The Choral Arts Society, Portland ME, the Oratorio Chorale of Brunswick, and choirs in Cambridge and Sudbury, MA, Brussels, Belgium, and most recently the First Parish Church Choir, Brunswick.
Since having moved to Brunswick in 1980, she volunteered with the Bath-Brunswick Regional Hospice, having served as its coordinator from 1981-1984.
She is survived by her husband, Frank, of Brunswick; two daughters, Shirsten Lundblad of Brunswick, Faith Garnett of Saco; a son, Eric Lundblad of Ashland, MA; a sister, Emmy Lea of Bradford, VT; a brother, Richard Cobb of Keene, NH; a granddaughter, Jessica Day of Seattle WA; a grandson, Jacob Day of Durham, NH.
