Name: Mary E. Libby Date: February 23rd, 1912 - May 25th, 2009 Obituary: Mary E. Libby, 97, died on May 25, 2009 at Hill House assisted living under the care of hospice. The family is very appreciative of the excellent care she has received there from the caring, compassionate staff of Beacon Hospice and Hill House. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond B. Libby in October 1976. She graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1930, from Gorham Normal School in 1933, and the University of Maine in Orono in 1963. She retired from teaching after 25 years in the Boothbay region and in Brunswick at the Hawthorne School. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, the National Education Association, the Maine Education Association, the local Retired Teachers’ Association, and the Brunswick Golf Club. She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Jenson and her husband Tom of Damariscotta, Jane Littlefield and her husband Bill of Topsham; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. At her request, a service will be held at 11AM Saturday, June 13, at the Berean Baptist Church, Cumberland Street, Brunswick, with Rev. Mark Rockwood officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army of Bath, 25 Congress Avenue, Bath, ME 04530 or to the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland Street, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
